The Molecular and Microscale Bioengineering Laboratory in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University in New York City is looking to hire a specialist in three-dimensional microfabrication for tissue engineering to lead the core laboratory for our work in tissue engineering. The strategic theme areas of the laboratory are regenerative medicine and microfluidics. The successful candidate will establish and maintain cultures of human and animal stem cells, and develop novel methods for controlling the microenvironment around stem cell niches and other cell clusters. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining the functionality of the Molecular and Microscale Bioengineering Laboratory and will be expected to apply for external funding opportunities. Associate Research Scientists at Columbia SEAS are junior officers who have demonstrated innovation and excellence in research. Applicants should have a PhD or its professional equivalent, and at least one year of postdoctoral research experience. Extensive experience in cell and tissue culture and microfabrication and are required. Demonstrated experience in working with multiple types of extracellular matrix materials, and experience with mentoring students, is preferred. We also seek candidates with a strong ability to establish multidisciplinary research and educational collaborations with academic departments and units within Columbia University and other research institutions.
